In her latest exhibition A Way of Return, Saudi-British and Armenian photographer and model Skye Jones explores the connections between the diverging cultures which are bound by the spirit of desert landscapes and define her identity. Here, she takes the new Nili Lotan Towns Boot for a spin, perfectly embodying the sands of both her home in the American Southwest and her Bedouin roots in Saudi Arabia. HommeGirls: What are you working on now or wanting to do next?

Skye Jones: I’d love to start curating group shows. I think photographers thrive when we support one another, and I’m drawn to the idea of building something collaborative. I also plan to continue returning to my long-term documentary projects; there’s something special about maintaining relationships with my subjects over the years. I’m also starting to shift toward more feminine subjects, after having focused mainly on masculinity—it feels like a natural next chapter.

HG: Describe your personal style

SJ: Not too serious, improvised, comfortable

HG: HommeGirl heroine or hero?

SJ: My grandmother

HG: What you throw on when you can't think about it?

SJ: Some cool trousers and a simple top. boots or sneakers

HG: Menswear must have or something you steal from your boyfriend or bestie?

SJ: A good hoodie or a good baggie T-shirt

HG: Idea of fun?

SJ: No plans, being outside, laughing and letting life come at you

SJ: Anything that comes out of my grandmas kitchen

HG: Favorite color?

SJ: Yellow

SJ: London

HG: Plane ride past time?

SJ: Editing photos and writing. my best creative ideas come to me in the air - could be the excitement of travel or the altitude that gets my creative juices flowing haha
