In this issue’s HG DMs, model, Hollywood progeny, and gemini Amelia Gray talks about bolognese, body image, and her dream of having a farm in the Japanese countryside.

Meet HommeGirl’s cynosure of the season, Amelia Gray, the LA-born / New York based influencer and model, gracing the runway for the likes of Diesel, Vivienne Westwood, Balenciaga, and Gaultier. Her parents are both canonized practitioners of reality television, denizens of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa Rinna & Harry Hamlin. Growing up in the public eye, Amelia knows the incomprehensible scale of national scrutiny. “My family [doesn’t] have anything to hide,” says Gray on The Skinny Confidential podcast. She’s outspoken on a number of issues ranging from eating disorders and mental health to socioeconomic disparity. Gray tells Vogue France that modeling is her “artistic medium.” In her sonnet Life, Edith Warton compares living to a marble block, each person given a chisel and a choice. At age 21, Amelia has a lot of block left to chisel, and yet has already built so much; a fashion empire, a robust social media presence, and a path for those who might struggle with the same things she has. Above all, she wants to promote kindness and love.

@madelinecash: Kk. Gonna oscillate between high brow / low brow with the questions.

What’s the last thing in your search history?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: azzedine alaia

@madelinecash: On The Skinny Confidential podcast, you fantasize about the simplicity of small town life. I grew up in Los Angeles as well and see the city’s effects on young women. How do you think LA informed who you are?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: I think LA shaped me in many ways - I think a lot of how it impacted me im grateful for now. Like, it made me resilient. And strong. And allowed me to grow thick skin. Growing up it was tough - but I’m grateful for those qualities now. That being said, the second I can, I am getting the F out of city life and buying a farm
in the middle of nowhere. I want European chickens lol

@madelinecash: wow she just like me fr
What’s dinner like at the Hamlin house?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: Like I’m already looking at farms lol
Bolognese, loud, uno, a lot of laughing - sometimes fighting. We’re only human. But don’t get it twisted, Lisa is NOT cooking.

@madelinecash: Looooool
Bolognese is a staple
How many dates before you bring someone home (to meet your parents)?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: Omg
A lot
I didn’t introduce my boyfriend to my parents till like 5 months in...
I still keep him far away. Not because he’s embarrassing. They are. Lol
Also tea boyfriend

@madelinecash: Would you ever ebb into reality tv yourself?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: NO

@madelinecash: HEARD
Carl Jung speaks of a “shadow self” in reference to the things we repress or do not acknowledge. Irrational fears, impulses, desires — one’s “dark side.” If you’ll indulge me, What’s Amelia’s “shadow self” like? When does she come out?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: Oh
Well I’m a gemini- so I have had a shadow self since birth. We call her Camelia.
I think that she comes out when i’m overwhelmed. I like to lead my life with love, and light. I try to never ever make anyone feel bad, or sad. That being said, sometimes during high stress times, she comes out. Though, I will say - Amelia has a thing or 2 to learn from Camelia. Like boundaries and standing up for myself. Sometimes my kindness can get in the way of what’s actually best for me. Camelia has my back on that. Also, Camelia is the one in all the photos. Not so much Amelia
Was that right idk

CHANEL stretch satin top, pants, belt, key ring and metallic lambskin flap bag; stylist's own souvenir keychains

@madelinecash: I am also a gemini -- I wonder if there’s a cadaline

I hear you’re into nutrition. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: Omg
Strange I don’t know
But I have a fetish for sesame anything. Sesame mochi. Sesame latte.
Sesame cookie. Sesame fucking anything. Bury me in sesame paste.

CHANEL glittered cashmere cardigan, iridescent glitter tweed vest, shorts and metal & strass earrings.

@madelinecash: Oh yum, so true. Have you been to Asia?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: Ya! I’ve been to Japan, and China! Japan is the best place on earth. But I will say, the wall of china is pretty sick

@madelinecash: Oooo maybe the farm could be in Japan

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: That’d be so slay sesame farm also

@madelinecash: With little Japanese chickens

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: Major

@madelinecash: What’s your most controversial opinion?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: Honestly, I think it’s that being nice is a lot easier than being mean. Being mean is very hard for me. Also - baggy over skinny any day.

@madelinecash: True, being nice is underrated
How do you want to influence your audience? Is it better to befeared or to be loved?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: I have a lot on my mind in terms of how I want my influence to impact people. Mainly I want to be the most human, relatable, woman to all the little girls out there. I was once toxically influenced by body image and how society portrays woman. I don’t want to ever cause that for anyone. I want to be a positive change in all of this madness. I want to empower every little boy or girl out there that has a dream. I want them to know that anything is possible. I want to lead with kindness and a full heart. I 100% believe it is much better to be loved. To be feared is a bandaid. I don’t like to cause fear to anyone. I don’t like to fear. I don’t want to be feared. I want to be known as the girl with so much love in her heart.

VALENTINO knit sweater; JACQUEMUS wool pants; BUNNEY necklace.

@madelinecash: No Machiavellians in the Hamlin House.

Us Gemini girlies get a lot of flack: why do you think birth charts hold this fascination? Is astrology the modern religion? /What is Amelia’s higher power?

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥Amelia♥: believe in birth charts pretty heavily. I mean, the way I think of it - we are all made from the universe and the stars and the planets right ? Like we couldn’t exist without that, so the alignment of the stars and astrological sky when you are birthed, takes a huge impact on who you are as a human, I believe.
I do think that there is an aspect of modern religion in this. I think mainly, in recent generations, we are developing new beliefs. I think that religion and astrology are very similar. It’s all something to believe in at the end of the day. In this human experience we like to believe in a higher power to feel safe and protected. To trust. There is so much unknown in this world.

My higher power is kindness and alignment. I meditate pretty much
everyday. I believe that if my mind is not aligned to its highest power and purity, my body cannot represent that either. Everything is connected. I try to stay as grounded as possible.

 FERRAGAMO shearling coat, bodysuit, resin earrings, bag and pointed wedge shoes; FALKE tights.

@madelinecash: Yesss our God was the friend we made along the way
Thank you so much A!!!
Have a blast in Paris ~
