Celine, s’il vous plait

Fashion debuts are coming in hot. And Celine just delivered a knockout premiere with their new Creative Director, Michael Rider. We tagged along with breakthrough actress and HG Volume 12 feature Lily McInerny (who starred alongside Chloë Sevigny in Bonjour Tristesse) as she touched down in Paris for the milestone moment.

Follow along her diary as she captures it all:

We arrived in Paris via red-eye Saturday morning. When pulling up to the HotelLutetia, we were greeted by swarms of fans screaming gleefully. Kim Taehyung from BTS was on his way out. We’d cross path’s again at the Celine show the following day. It was a very fun welcome to the city.

Our first stop after dropping off our bags would be the Saint Ouen flea market. We weren’t in Paris for very long and we were determined to hit the flea, jet-lag be damned.

We hit various walls throughout our shop, but persevered nonetheless.

The weather was beautiful. We felt like pinching ourselves. We were sublimely happy.

The next morning glam arrived and it was time to get ready for the show!

I worked with some of my favorite hair and makeup artists, Charlotte Prevel andOlivier de Vriendt. I’m always happy to have an occasion to reunite while overseas.

My look was classic and comfortable and I felt like wearing it everyday as my new uniform.

We’re on the way!

What’s in my bag ^

At the show <3 The room was buzzing with excitement for Michael Rider’s debut collection. No one knew exactly what to expect, but I hoped to see some references to his time working alongside Phoebe Philo.

I loved the silk scarves and repetition of graphic red and blue featured in many of the looks.

He did not disappoint! The collection was beautiful, a perfect balance of legacy and innovation. The 80’s prep accompanied by a new-wave playlist (Lullaby byThe Cure) gave me Bret Easton Ellis/American Pyscho vibes. A standout were the accessories, like this Wicker Teen Garance bag revived from “old celine” days, pictured here withCeline model and friend Lulu Tenney.

An oversized head scarf shielded guests sitting outside from the rain.

I love the rain. It added a level of drama and romance I appreciated.

xx Lily
